Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. BMI is a useful measure of overweight and obesity.
BMI is a good measure of body fat and its estimate relation to your risk for diseases that can occur with more body fat. The higher your BMI, the higher your risk for certain diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, gallstones, and breathing problems.
